The Foundation is a lead sponsor of “Hearts of Our People: Native Women Artists.”  The exhibition features over 117 works dating from ancient times to the present in a variety of media, including sculpture, video and digital arts, photography, textiles, and decorative arts.  Co-Curators Jill Ahlberg Yohe, PhD, Mia’s associate curator of Native American Art, and Teri Greeves, an independent curator and member of the Kiowa Nation, worked closely with an advisory panel of Native women artists and Native and non-Native scholars to develop the exhibition’s major themes and gain insights from a range of nations.  The exhibition includes works from Mia’s permanent collection and items loaned from more than 30 institutions and private collections.  The exhibition will travel on to Nashville’s Frist Center for the Visual Arts, the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery in Washington, D.C., and Tulsa’s Philbrook Museum of Art through September, 2020.
