The Foundation provides support for Mixed Blood’s access and engagement initiatives to increase participation in the arts by individuals and groups who have been historically underserved by arts organizations. Its Radical Hospitality program provides no-cost access to all Mixed Blood main stage productions for any audience member. Mixed Blood also works to eliminate barriers for people with disabilities by offering free transportation, a fully-accessible building, supertitles, and performances for deaf-blind patrons. Community programs include Project 154, which uses the art of storytelling and personal narrative to promote health and wellbeing of East African immigrants, and Education Before Action, a leadership development cohort for teenage boys and young men drawing on the transformative power of the arts. The Foundation’s grant also supports Mixed Blood’s four Advisory Councils comprised of representatives from disability, LatinX and Trans communities and Cedar Riverside.
