About Cedar Cultural Center
The Cedar is in its 35th year of promoting intercultural appreciation and understanding through music. It is located in Minneapolis’ diverse Cedar Riverside neighborhood and is a national leader in presenting acclaimed, innovative artists from around the world. The Cedar’s programming spans global roots, folk, indie, experimental, bluegrass, Americana and blues genres, and includes artist residencies, educational outreach, an emerging composers program and community events.
The Foundation supports the annual Global Roots Festival and Indigenous Music Series. The Global Roots Festival is a free event held each fall over three days featuring innovative and unique artists from across the globe. The Cedar also collaborates with local community organizations connected to the artists’ backgrounds, and universities and schools for outreach and cultural partnerships. The Indigenous Music Series, launched in 2011, presents Indigenous artists from around the world performing traditional music styles from their respective communities. The Indigenous Music Series is designed to inspire audiences, build relationships and extend The Cedar’s reach to diverse communities.
