The Grand Rapids Ballet (GRB) is Michigan’s only professional ballet company. It provides exceptional and diverse programming, high quality dance education, community outreach and family-friendly programs. Under the artistic leadership of James Sofranko since 2018, GRB presents numerous styles of dance from some of the finest choreographers of the 20th and 21st centuries. The professional company consists of over 30 dancers, apprentices and trainees from the United States and around the world. The Rosemary and David Good Family Foundation supports JUMPSTART, where GRB’s dancers are challenged to refocus their creative energies, moving into the role of choreographer, building works for other company dancers. JUMPSTART 2022 marked GRB’s 50th anniversary by collaborating with various Grand Rapids-area arts and education institutions to create eight world-premiere performances. It also included the revival of two works created for GRB’s 2020-2021 virtual season. In addition to world premieres created by GRB’s dancers, JUMPSTART 2023 will also will feature an excerpt of Three Offerings by noted guest choreographer Darrell Grand Moultrie.
